Exploring Cuenca: Our Family’s Journey to the Heart of Ecuador

This year, we decided to take a break from our coastal life in Salinas and head to the highlands: Cuenca, one of the most beautiful and historic cities in Ecuador. The trip was full of stunning views as we passed through "Cajas National Park", with its misty mountains and glacial lakes. We will stay in a charming hotel, since it was located near the plaza and the craft center that Cuenca has

The climate here is quite different from what we are used to: cool and cool, with temperatures around 15°C. It's perfect for walking around the city without feeling too hot. We spent our first day exploring the historic center, walking through "Parque Calderón" and visiting the magnificent  "Catedral Nueva" with its iconic blue domes. The kids loved riding a small boat on the "Tomebamba River", which meanders through the city.

We also visited the "Museo Pumapungo", where we learned about the ancient cultures of Ecuador and explored the impressive Inca ruins behind the museum. The gardens, full of native plants and birds, were a highlight for the whole family.

But I liked the "Las Dos Chorreras" chocolate shop the most, it is a very nice place, you can do various tourist activities that have their own price, you can also buy many sweets, especially chocolates, I bought three types of chocolates, but my Favorite was the coffee dipped in chocolate.

The next day we also visited the famous ruins of Ingapirca, the largest Inca archaeological site in Ecuador, and we visited "Jurassic Paute", a very nice place where you can learn a little about dinosaurs, it was an exciting experience! .

Thank you for your attention 🤗
